I'm Samuel Sheedy, a photographer based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. I shoot four things mainly: the night sky, deep-space objects, Irish wildlife, and the small world that opens up under a macro lens.

I got into photography in 2020, when a friend took me out to see Comet NEOWISE. Nightscapes have been my main interest ever since. What's kept me at it is the patience these subjects demand. A single image can be hours of exposures spent out in a cold night under the stars, and a good wildlife shot often comes down to a long wait for a few seconds of opportunity. The camera rewards showing up.

Most of my nightscape work is shot around Wicklow. I travel around Ireland for wildlife when I can, and most of my macro work happens closer to home. I shoot on Sony bodies with a range of lenses, use a star tracker for the deep-sky work, and process in PixInsight, Photoshop and Lightroom.
