Fungi Photography Ireland

Autumn is when the fungi show up. Most of the organism stays hidden underground or inside wood all year, and the mushrooms are only the brief part we get to see. This gallery covers species I’ve found in woodlands and grasslands across Ireland, from bright waxcaps and purple Amethyst Deceivers to tiny bonnets that are easy to miss. Some fungi also fluoresce under UV light, which I’ve started photographing alongside the normal shots.
